{"id":2,"date":"2020-06-01T04:13:54","date_gmt":"2020-06-01T04:13:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/abug.org.uk\/?page_id=2"},"modified":"2020-06-09T09:13:18","modified_gmt":"2020-06-09T09:13:18","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/abug.org.uk\/index.php\/about\/","title":{"rendered":"About ABug"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Acorn &amp; BBC Micro User Group (ABug, for short) was founded by members of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stardot.org.uk\/forums\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stardot Forum<\/a> &#8211; a vintage computing community that is dedicated to the range of computers produced by Acorn Computers (Cambridge, UK) between 1978 &#8211; 2000, which include the BBC Micro series, Acorn Electron, Acorn Atom, Archimedes and RISC PC.<\/p>\n<p>ABug members have <a href=\"https:\/\/stardot.org.uk\/forums\/viewforum.php?f=77#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">organised events across the UK and beyond<\/a> since 2014 and beginning 2020, when the world was in lockdown, we introduced <a href=\"https:\/\/stardot.org.uk\/forums\/viewforum.php?f=60\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">virtual<\/a> events.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to the <a href=\"https:\/\/zoom.us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Zoom<\/a> conferencing service, we are now able to record the talks and presentations that take place at our virtual events &#8211; and they are available to view both here on the <strong>abug.org.uk<\/strong> website as well as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCnw4p95EOWghQNP4vOv8VHw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Youtube channel<\/a> belonging to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.computinghistory.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Centre for Computing History<\/a>, Cambridge.<\/p>\n<p>If you would like to participate in future ABug events, whether physical or virtual, you can reserve your place via the <a href=\"https:\/\/stardot.org.uk\/forums\/viewforum.php?f=25\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Upcoming Events<\/a> section at <strong>Stardot<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Acorn &amp; BBC Micro User Group (ABug, for short) was founded by members of the Stardot Forum &#8211; a vintage computing community that is dedicated to the range of computers produced by Acorn Computers (Cambridge, UK) between 1978 &#8211; 2000, which include the BBC Micro series, Acorn Electron, Acorn Atom, Archimedes and RISC PC.
